Every technological revolution begins with anxiety: Will machines replace us? But change happens not when technology pushes people out but when people and tools begin to work in sync, reshaping familiar professions and opening new creative directions. This series explores how artificial intelligence is transforming dubbing and the essence of media itself. I co-founded a company that builds AI dubbing tools. Before you decide what that means, let me tell you about a storm. My mother, a historian, taught me to see the past not as a sequence of dates but as a living system of patterns, to understand what they can teach us and how they can help us predict the future. As a child, I often heard stories about my great-grandparents, who lived through revolutions, wars, waves of migration, and the rapid technological leap of the early 20th century. They still managed to build families, work, create, and change the world..........

MIAMI'S OWN EMMY WINNING LANGUAGE STUDIO CELEBRATES 25 YEARS
MIAMI: "As The Kitchen enters its 25th year, our goal as a language service provider globally, is to continue to expand our services and to offer complete end to end solutions for our clients, while always embracing the newest technologies available to this ever-changing global industry," explained Ken Lorber President/CEO and Founder of the global studio.
25 years ago, there were three of us in this company in a small townhouse on Miami Beach's Espanola Way. And now we're 50+ globally, with headquarters in a 5-story building in Miami's Edgewater community with thousands of freelance translators and actors who have all contributed to making The Kitchen what we are today.
The Kitchen is a language localization studio, but many will ask, what is a language localization studio and why do we need it?.......

A human-directed AI workflow with Dubformer helped D&C scale 13x to 6,000 minutes a month while keeping broadcast standards intact.
"It's day and night what you're talking about now."
yoram chertok has been in localization for 20 years. He's seen what AI dubbing looked like 1-2 years ago. Voices weren't good enough. Everything needed manual adjustment.
Today his company delivers lip sync dubbing for theatrical releases. Feature films. Real broadcasters.
What changed wasn't just the tech. D&C built a team of 90 proof listeners across 30 languages. People who direct AI the way a studio director guides voice actors. They decide what sounds right. AI handles the rest.
450 minutes a month became 6,000. A 10-hour series delivers in five days.

THE KITCHEN CELEBRATES A QUARTER CENTURY AS A LEADING LANGUAGE SERVICE PROVIDER
January 7, 2025
MIAMI: “The Kitchen has just entered our 25 th year as a leading language service provider. We are celebrating our team, our colleagues and our clients, for their continued faith and on-going, unwavering support in all we do,” Ken Lorber, Founding Partner/President/CEO explained.
Out of the gate, The Kitchen and its then parent company, TM Systems, was awarded two Prime Time Emmy Awards for the creation and implementation of the industry’s first “end to end” suite of language software tools. Not only was the software used within The Kitchen, but it also rapidly became a part of language service providers’ offerings in Los Angeles, Mexico, Argentina and throughout Europe. “That gave us a leg-up on our competition back then, and we continue to retain that type of out-of-the-box attitude with all we do,” Lorber added. “The idea to submit our translation, dubbing, subtitling and QC software to the Emmys was that type of thinking. Never before had a language company even been considered for the Emmy nod. Why not, has always been our motto.”......
Plint retains Mark Howorth as Senior Advisor for introduction of its new technology
PLINT, a leading localization technology supplier, announced that it has retained Mark Howorth to serve as a Senior Advisor.
PLINT’s technology enables cost-effective, automated localization that most closely resembles human language. Traditional technologies like Neural Machine Translation, and Large Language Models still result in output that requires manual intervention to mimic phrasing that sounds natural. Plint has invested significant engineering over the last two years to reduce the need for human post-editing and QC.
