AVT Masterclass launches “International Phonetic Alphabet for AI Dubbing”
A new course designed to help companies ensure accuracy and consistency in AI-generated speech
AVT Masterclass has announced the launch of a new online course, International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for AI Dubbing, created to address one of the most pressing challenges in AI-driven localisation: ensuring the accuracy and consistency of synthetic speech.
As the use of AI dubbing continues to grow across the media and language industries, companies are seeking effective ways to maintain linguistic quality and brand integrity. While AI voices are improving rapidly, they still frequently mispronounce names, abbreviations, and culturally specific terms. The new AVT Masterclass course introduces learners to the International Phonetic Alphabet as a practical tool for diagnosing and correcting pronunciation errors in AI-generated speech.
The IPA is a universal system for representing the sounds of spoken language. Each symbol corresponds to a specific sound, making it possible to record and reproduce pronunciation accurately across all languages. By learning to use IPA, language professionals can provide precise guidance to synthetic speech tools, ensuring consistent results regardless of language.
The course demonstrates how media localisation companies and content owners can create pronunciation glossaries to ensure that key terms – such as product names, brand names, and proper nouns – are pronounced consistently and accurately across all projects and languages. By incorporating IPA into AI dubbing workflows, teams can establish a clear standard for pronunciation, reducing the risk of errors in localised content.
